In the 18th century the changing fashions led to many sorts of folded or cocked hats - cocked on one, two, or three sides. It was the hat with three sides or the Tricorn Hat that dominated fashion and was seen in innumerable variations of adornment and proportion.
Tricorn or tricorne hats had a broad brim, pinned up on either side of the head and at the back, producing a triangular shape.

Recommended Fabrics: Fine wool, cotton, linen or brocades for the coat and felt for the hat
